Resume Website Project

As part of the class Management Information Systems at the Schulich School of Business, which I am taking this semester, we had to create a website that creatively displayed our resume using only the Notepad application on our computer and the HTML programming language.

Here is the link.

One caveat that I would like to mention:

I am thinking of further developing that website with the intention of switching it for this one (That site will appear when visiting matthewgabrielhinton.com instead of the Blogger layout I'm using now).  While I'm working on it it may not appear as originally intended but it should be mostly intact.

Toastmasters Speech 8: Get Comfortable With Visual Aids

On Monday, October 1,  I gave my eighth Toastmaster's speech entitled "How to Find Ideas for Your Speech."  I was continuing the train of thought that I had in my seventh speech, "giving a speech about how to give a speech."

The speech lasted seven minutes and included a live demonstration of how easy it really is to find a speech idea.  Some of the visual aids I used included the chalkboard and a newspaper.  I also called on the audience to come up with ideas.

I've included my speech notes below once again.  Enjoy!

Toastmasters Speech 7: Research Your Topic

On Monday, September 24 I gave my seventh speech with Toastmasters entitled: "How to Make Notes for Your Speech."

It was around 6 minutes long and went well, I think!  I went in depth into the type of paper, font, and paragraph style to meet the requirements for the "Research Your Topic" speech.

I've included my speech notes below, although they've been formatted to better fit the website.

Photos: My Favourites - General

Over the last few years I've taken a lot of photos outside of Schulich and HTS.  Some are on vacation while some are just around the house.  Here are a few of my favourites.  Enjoy!

"Vocal Variety," Toastmasters Speech 6

I gave my sixth Toastmaster's speech last Monday, March 5th, on the paradox of choice and how it relates to happiness.  Another part of my speech, which as far as I know is new for our chapter of Toastmasters, was that I let the audience decide how certain parts of my speech would go.  The goal of the speech, which the Competent Communicator Manual calls "Vocal Variety," was to enhance your message by using pace, pitch, power, and pause.  My speech was six minutes thirty-seven seconds long.  Here's what I said:

I designed the layout of three articles this month.  You can see them below:

"Your Body Speaks," Toastmasters Speech 5

On January 23 I gave my fifth Toastmasters speech on the subject of the Costa Concordia.  The goal of the speech, which the Competent Communicator Manual calls "Your Body Speaks," is to use body movement to enhance your speech and to eliminate any movement that detracts from it.  My speech was about six minutes long.  Here's what I said:
